The Middle East is an area where car is king and fuel is cheap, typically leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have pushed up the price of oil, the problem of finding alternative of fuel has entered sharp focus.

In a region that has among the greatest carbon footprints on the planet, one service is taking advantage of the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving profitable too, already their client-list includes McDonald's.
